MEET YOUR COACH

 My first exposure to the game of golf was in a family garage.  My father and uncles were watching 1985 broadcast of The Masters.  On the screen was Calvin Peete and his caddy reading a putt.  Nothing evolved from my father asking me if I like golf enough to want to learn how to play.  Fast forward to 2010, I was invited to play golf with an old Navy buddy I served with.  The course was beautiful, but my game was not.  I shot a 156.  Yet, it was the most fun I had outside of my travels on active duty.  

  Because I was such a crappy golfer but fun golf buddy, more friends invited me out.  We hacked away every weekend and each round got more and more competitive.  League play and travel brought forth so much camaraderie.  I was the last to shoot lower than 100.  But, by 2012, I was the first out of my crew to crack 90.  I got rid of the hand me down clubs and purchased my first custom set.  My first round with the new set on a new course was an 86.  The first thing I said after the round is, “I must start documenting this.”  #1000roundsofgolf was born.

 What is 1000 rounds of golf?

Having tracked every stroke play round since May 2012.  1000 Rounds of Golf started with just stat tracking and analytics, trends and timestamps, and a guide on how to practice.  Over time, it has evolved into my journey of becoming and a road map to getting there.  I learned how to get better.  I learned how to manage my skills and emotions. I learned how to maintain my skills over time and through injury, disabilities, and even an accident.  I learned how to laugh along the way.  I also learned how to share who I am, the golfer.

1000 Rounds of Golf, at its core, is designed to help new golfers on where to begin and reduce the formation of poor habits.  Returning golfers getting back into the game will correct compensations.  Experienced golfers will better dial in feel and learn how to train consistency and play more to their strengths on the course.  Overall, the main goal of 1000 Rounds of Golf is to provide all golfers with the proper context and understanding to fill the gaps of all the information that is out there.  Simply, 1000 Rounds of Golf will greatly influence a golfer’s desire to play more and enjoy more.
